Questions

What people ask the dispatch desk

How do I know you're licensed?

Our license line is in the footer of every page, with the board that issues it. You can look the license up on the state's verification site. The technician can show you their company ID at the door.

What does a visit cost?

The dispatch fee covers the drive and the diagnosis, and the dispatcher tells you the figure when you book. Repair work is priced separately, in writing, before it starts.

Does a night or weekend call cost more?

Yes. After 7 p.m., on Sundays and on holidays the dispatch fee is higher. The dispatcher quotes it before a van is sent.

Will I get a price before you start?

Yes, in writing, before any work begins. If the job changes once a wall is open, the technician stops and gives you the new price.

How long does a job take?

The technician gives you an estimate once the problem is found. A drain clear or a fixture swap is usually one visit. A water heater replacement is often one visit too.

Do you pull permits?

Where the city or county requires a permit for the work, we pull it and list it on your written price.

Should I repair or replace my water heater?

The technician looks at its age, its leaks and its condition and gives you the price for each choice. The decision is yours.

Is my house at risk for lead or old pipe?

Houses built before 1986 may have lead solder or older galvanized supply pipes. If you're worried, ask the technician to look at your supply line, and read the EPA's guidance on lead in drinking water.

Do I need to be home?

For a first visit, someone 18 or older should be there. For a rental, we confirm access with the tenant.

Where and when do you work?

The towns are on the service area page. The emergency line is answered around the clock; scheduled visits run Monday to Saturday.

Still have a question?

Call and ask the dispatcher. Nights and Sundays too.
